Crystal Lake property management
One Point Property Management leases and manages rental homes across Crystal Lake, from the established neighborhoods near the lake and downtown to the newer subdivisions on the south side near Route 14 and Pingree Road. Our Hoffman Estates office is about thirty minutes away, and we visit the area every week.
- Two Metra UP-NW stations, Crystal Lake and Pingree Road, for city commuters
- Districts 47 and 155 keep family rentals in demand
- Larger lots and newer homes than the inner suburbs
Crystal Lake is the largest city in McHenry County and its rental market reflects a community where people put down roots. Single-family homes dominate: mid-century houses near the lake and downtown, and larger homes from the 1980s onward in the subdivisions south of Route 14. Townhome communities near Pingree Road and Randall Road give renters a lower-maintenance option.
Families rent in Crystal Lake for District 47 elementary schools and District 155’s Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge High Schools, and for the lake, Three Oaks Recreation Area and the downtown around the Raue Center. Commuters rely on the two Union Pacific Northwest Metra stations.
What drives demand here
Schools, space and the train. Northwestern Medicine, the retail along Route 14 and Randall Road, and employers in the Crystal Lake and Cary industrial areas provide local jobs, and Chicago commuters accept the longer ride for the larger home.

Before you rent out a home in Crystal Lake
McHenry County follows Illinois state landlord-tenant law without a county ordinance of its own. Eviction matters for the county are heard at the courthouse in Woodstock. We handle notices and filings if a lease is ever breached.
Questions Crystal Lake owners ask.
What does property management cost?
A monthly management fee as a percentage of collected rent, plus a leasing fee when we place a new resident. There are no hidden charges; the full fee schedule is in the management agreement before you sign. Request a proposal and you will have the numbers for your specific home within one business day.
Where do you manage property?
The northwest suburbs of Chicago: Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Palatine, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Elgin, Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Mundelein and the surrounding communities in Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry Counties. If your home is nearby but not on the list, ask.
How quickly will my home rent?
A well-presented home priced to current leases in its attendance area usually has qualified applications within the first two weeks. The biggest variables are price, condition and season. We tell you before listing what each choice will likely cost in days on market.
My home is in an association. Can it be rented?
Often yes, but the declaration has to be read first. Some associations cap the number of rentals, set minimum lease terms or require board approval and a move-in fee. We review the documents before listing and handle the approval as part of leasing.
